Maingard Guitar: Lucas York

New Maingard Lucas York

This is basically a deep bodied 00-12c.

Radically figured Rainbow Brazilian Rosewood back & sides.

One of Marc's rare, Italian Cedar tops (not to be confused with the much more common Western Red Cedar).

Soft cutaway.

Hand made Wave Rosette of Maple & Brazilian Rosewood.

Top AND Back ergonomic bevels of Cocobolo.

Cocobolo body & soundhole bindings.

Delicate Red purfling lines adjacent to all bindings & on the headstock - tasty!

Ebony fretboard & bridge.

Slotted headstock with figure Brazilian Rosewood front & back plates.

Gold Waverly tuning machines with Snakewood buttons.

Marc's patented design on the heelcap consisting of multiple colorful purfling strips.

Maple back center strip and tail wedge.

The short scale makes this guitar a breeze to play and gives it a full, rounded sound.

The Italian Cedar is more stiff than Western Red, so the tone is warm, yet clearly defined.

Some more specs: 10 3/8" upper bout; 14 7/8" lower bout; 19 1/8" body length; 4 3/4" deep at the tail.

Better grade Hiscox Lite flight case included.

Maingard Guitar: GC CocoBolo Cutaway

New Maingard GC Cutaway

30 year old figured CocoBolo back & sides;

Cedar Top; And not just Any Cedar top.

We learned from Marc that this is Italian Cedar, as opposed to Western Red Cedar.

And that Italian Cedar is much more stiff. It also produces better note separation.  This Cedar grows in the Alps, so in reality it is Alpine Cedar. It's like the difference between USA Sitka spruce or Alpine Spruce.  It grows more slowly; It's altogether better.

It will grow beautifully into a very balanced, yet always warm sounding guitar.

The soundhole is bound with Macassar Ebony.

This guitar has a tribal Ndebele triangle pattern rosette in Maple.

Corresponding Maple top trim with fine red purflings adjacent.

These fine red purflings are used tastefully on the sides, back, headstock etc.

Ebony fretboard; Hand-carved Ebony bridge.

Macassar Ebony body bindings as well as Top & Back BEVELS.

CocoBolo headstock front and back plates.

Marc's signature headstock profile with MOP logo.

Gold Waverly tuning machines with Ebony buttons.

Patented, multi-layered, inlayed heelcap -- very handsome.

This guitar is really suprizing. The bass is clear and full and the trebles solid. Unbelievably responsive.

Hiscox Lite flight case included.
