D'Angelico Excel EX-DC:
An all-new, double-cutaway semi-hollowbody electric — with the D'Angelico touch. The spruce top and maple neck set the Excel EX-DC apart from the crowd, with its own unique, mellow and soulful voice. The thinline double-cutaway body shape allows easy access to the highest notes on the neck, and sits comfortably on your body. It's an instant classic!
The Excel EX-DC finally completes a project the great luthier John D'Angelico started over forty years ago — a D'Angelico semi-hollowbody electric for the masses!
In his prototypes, John D'Angelico took a double-cutaway guitar body and fitted one of his hand-carved maple necks. Sadly, D'Angelico passed away before he could finish the work, and his idea died with him...
Or did it? D'Angelico Guitars has taken this original idea to its completion, with a beautifully shaped hard maple neck on a double-cutaway semi-hollowbody of fancy figured maple, fitted with an arched spruce top for an articulate and detailed response.
The D'Angelico Excel EX-DC comes equipped with Kent Armstrong Vintage Gold humbucking pickups, and a plush-lined hardshell case. Ours is a beautiful Tobacco Sunburst.
