SOME BACKGROUND
Jerry Nolte built his first stringed instrument in 1971. He has been building and repairing instruments for a living ever since. He uses primarily hand tools to bring each individual instrument to its fullest potential. Jerry is partial to Cedar as a top wood, but other tonewoods are available. The majority of the woods he uses, he saws or splits directly from selected trees and air dries for 3-6 years before using. His guitars have bone saddle & nut, arched backs, 3-piece neck construction, wooden pickguards, ebony binding, ebony fingerboards and bridge, and a hand rubbed oil varnish, like you'd find on a fine, old violin. Below are Jerry's guitar models. He also builds an archtop mandolin. Jerry is the official repairman at the "National Old-time Fiddlers' Contest" in Weiser, Idaho.
