Some Background
Mayes guitars are quality instruments handcrafted by luthier John Mayes in his home state of Oklahoma. His instruments have found their way into the hands of artists like Matt Odmark, and Steve Mason of Jars of Clay and Andrew Peterson.
John apprenticed with Dana Bourgeois at Pantheon Guitars. He also worked with John Slobad, Cary Clements, Mike Onofrio, and Chuck Thorton there. In September of 2001 he left Pantheon Guitars and moved back to his home state of Oklahoma, moved into a shop in Norman and started Mayes Guitars.
