He started to work on musical instruments in 1994 when he began study in a Hungarian school of lutherie. There he became acquainted with building and repairing methods and the theoretical background of the guitar, violin and lute-type musical instruments. After two years Balazs graduated and continued to work in his teacher’s shop, working on all sorts of instruments -- but mainly on violins and guitars.
In 1997 he went to work for a double-bass workshop where he restored several double basses from the best makers in Europe and built new ones as well. This experience has proven incredibly useful in guitarbuilding. Balazs set up his own workshop in 2000 in a small Hungarian village surrounded by forests and focused on guitarbuilding. He has also worked for a well-known German bow maker, Bernd Etzler.
Balazs built mainly archtop guitars until 2003 when he went to work for Lowden Guitars in Northern Ireland which later became Avalon Guitars. There he gained experienced in every process of guitar manufacturing and became responsible for new designs and custom projects.
He continued to build his own guitars too, with a very distinctive sound, design and building approach.
He now has his own shop, producing 20 plus guitars per year. We are DELIGHTED to be Balazs's sole representative in the U.S.A. Each guitar is one of a kind and superbly crafted.

Prohaszka SJ: Extraordinary ~ One of a Kind guitar that is as much a piece of art as it is a musical instrument! Figured Indian rosewood back and sides with a rare top. This top wood is a "trade secret" -- all that Balazs will say is -- it is an
uncommonly used type of coniferous species from Russia....(Not cedar) and that it is stonger and heavier than most spruce with better sound conduction.(Maybe similar to adirondack spruce). It sounds amaaaaazing!
