The (Series II) & (Series III) Special Edition JTSM Signature Models are Sold Out ~
Special Edition JT models share the basic specifications of the standard model, but supplement them. Ten Indian rosewood special edition JT models were built with these additional appointments:

Double-inlayed dove and "O" inlays, with mother-of-pearl borders surrounding abalone inserts. Special soundhole rosette with an abalone ring surrounded by Brazillian rosewood inserts carefully cut and shaped to have a radial grain pattern. Ebony peghead back with white-black-white purfling; White-black-white purfling around the fingerboard.

In addition, ten Brazillian rosewood special edition JT models were built with the above appointments, but substituting select Brazilian rosewood for the guitar back and sides. All of the Brazilian JT Signature Model guitars have been sold.

WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS ONE OF THE 10 BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD JT MODELS IN THE WORLD. This is the most beautiful set of Brazilian Rosewood ever to grace our shop. This guitar is near mint and abides in a Calton flight case. For whatever reason, our Calton case does NOT have an "O" embossed on the top. The SN of the guitar is #1035 and the label inside is signed by both Jim Olson & James Taylor. This guitar has a clear pickguard; a Baggs LB-6 pickup and also a strap pin in the neck installed. Olson SJ Brazilian:1999 ~ Mint! Flamboyantly Figured Brazilian back & sides of the brick red variety. You know, there are 2 schools of thought on what Fine Brazilian Rosewood is these days. The first being, the old standby... perfectly straight grained, quarter sawn Brazilian, that is sometimes difficult to differentiate from Indian Rosewood. The second school of thought being the more figure and brick red coloring, the better! This is what we have on this sensational guitar. It is the most spectacular Brazilian we have seen on Jim's guitars. Crazy with figure! The top is Mastergrade Engelmann Spruce. Colorful Paua Abalone glitters from the rosette, back strip, and top trim. Sharp Florentine cutaway. #1 Inlay pattern of white Mother-of-Pearl and abalone. Bound Ebony fingerboard with purfling lines which continue around the headstock. Gold Schallers with ebony buttons. Clear pickguard. 1 3/4" nut. Ebony bridge with ebony bridge pins adorned with pearl dots. Tortoise shell binding and side purfling lines. The sound is clear, clean, and penetrating. Tons of sustain, totally balanced. Olson SJ cutaway: Year 2000 ~ Near mint condition. Indian Rosewood back and sides with a fine, fine Adirondack top (pretty rare, on an Olson).... Florentine cutaway. Abalone rosette. Ultra fine herringbone surrounds the soundboard and forms the back center strip. The fingerboard is bound and has fine double purfling lines ascending the edges. These complement the same purfling lines that encircle the headstock. Slotted MOP diamond inlays adorn the ebony fingerboard. 1 3/4" nut width. Ebony bridge with Ebony pins/ abalone dots. 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. Baggs LB6 pickup. Gold Schaller tuners/Ebony buttons. Olson D: 1991 ~ Exc-- condition. Beautiful ribbon Mahogany back & sides on this fine Olson dreadnought. Western Red Cedar top. No pickup. Strictly acoustic. strap pin in tail and neck. Olson SJ: 1994 ~ Near Mint - condition. Boldly grained Indian Rosewood back & sides. Near the back center, it almost looks like Brazilian --- waaaaay cool ! Western Red Cedar top. Olson SJ: 1996 ~ Near Mint-- condition. Flamboyant Brazilian Rosewood back & sides on this precious Olson! This is what some folks look for all their lives. Rio with streaks of green, brown, black, orange and shades inbetween in it. Rare stuff, indeed! Fine Engelmann Spruce top with a clear pickguard. Abalone rosette, back strip and top trim. White mother of pearl doves adorn the ebony fingerboard that measures 1 3/4" at the nut. Gold Schaller tuners with ebony buttons surround the headstock. Tortoiseshell colored body binding. Olson D: 1990 ~ Excellent condition. One of Jim's earlier guitars, #258. Indian Rosewood back and sides on this dreadnought. Nicely aged golden Sitka Spruce top with a bit of bearclaw figuring. Sharp (Florentine) cutaway. Fine herringbone rosette and top purfling. Colorful abalone doves inlayed on the ebony fingerboard. 1 3/4" nut width. Tortoiseshell colored pickguard. Olson SJ Brazilian Cutaway: We consider ourselves VERY FORTUNATE indeed to have once again received a brand spankin' new guitar from Jim!(serial # 922)... Originally built to display at the Heldsburg guitar festival, this beauty is truly a "show stopper!" The most extraordinarily beguiling Brazilian Rosewood we have ever encountered was used in the creation of this musical masterpiece. Mastergrade Sitka Spruce forms the top which has a sparkling abalone perimeter. A Sharp cutaway gives great access to the upper register. There is a beautiful abalone rosette and back strip. Jim's #1 fingerboard inlays descend the ebony fingerboard which is bound and has the fine purfling lines dancing along the edge. Abalone swirls adorn either end of the ebony bridge. Koa body binding makes for a nice contrast. This guitar has a complete fossilized ivory package ~ nut, saddle, bridge pins with abalone dots, and even the Gold Schaller tuners have genuine ivory buttons! Hmmm, Hmmm they feel GOOD! Rated Exc- due to finish checking on the top, mostly from the bridge down to the bottom. Not terribly noticeable, especially from dead on, you have to tilt the guitar and angle it to see it. Olson SJ: 1992. Wide grain, well defined Indian Rosewood back & sides. Western Red Cedar top. Herringbone rosette and top purfling. Gold Tuners with ebony buttons. Very Good overall condition. (the back is fairly clean, superficial scratching; the top has some nicks/dings). This guitar has been played, but not abused. It IS a player's guitar! It not only has a Sunrise pickup, but also a Midi out McClish pickup(RMC). So, 2 out jacks, one 1/4", and one midi. This guitar lives in a Calton case, that has some wear, but, hey, it's a Calton, it can take it! Black pickguard. Torquoise binding. Nice close action, easy to play, and that incredible Olson sound. The body is bound in Brazilian Rosewood! Chrome Schallers with ebony buttons. Have we missed anything? Oh yeah, it sounds fabulous, darling! Comes in an upgraded Cloth tweed case with dark brown crushed velvet lining. This guitar has a few minor nicks in the Cedar top and a one inch area of compression on the back of the neck near the 7th fret. There's a minor scratch at the butt wedge near the 1/4" jack. Olson Custom SJ. Koa/Adirondack. This koa is magnificent! Golden in color, highly figured. The Adirondack top is stunning with an abalone rosette that has more fire than any other we've seen. The herringbone around the top border is ultra fine. Tortise shell body binding and pickguard. Baggs pickup. Ebony tuner buttons. Plain ebony fretboard, 1 3/4" at nut. Custom SJ in that we had Jim pull the body a little tighter than usual and the body depth is not quite as deep as his standard SJ. This affords a more comfortable play while seated. Voiced for light strings, the tone is bell-like. The Steinway of guitars.....SOLD!
