Kathy Wingert guitars are built one at a time, and each is one of a kind with these essential elements in common: Playability, clarity, focus, sustain, tone and beauty. Built with traditional methods of construction which have been proven to stand the test or time, these finely crafted instruments are made from all solid choice woods. Each fine guitar top is braced with the finest spruce, and each top is individually carved and voiced to find each instrument’s personal voice, its best voice. For strength and structure, Kathy Wingert guitars are built with necks of choice mahogany or cedar, laminated with fine veneers for rigidity, using graphite reinforcements in addition to a double-acting truss rod. The bridge, neck, and traditional dovetail are secured with animal hide glue, the traditional glue used by instrument makers for which there is no modern substitute or improvement. Starting with construction and continuing through the set-up process, Kathy Wingert guitars are built for unsurpassed playability. From hard driving bluegrass picking to fingerstyle playing in open tunings, these guitars respond beautifully and play comfortably.
MODELS
Model E Grand Concert - A versatile, well-balanced guitar which truly performs with outstanding responsiveness, clarity, and tone as a finger style guitar. Despite its Grand Concert size, this is an outstanding flat picker as well. Also available as a 12 fret model.
Model F Grand Auditorium - This is the big one. This, too, is a versatile, well-balanced guitar that will take on dynamic playing with your fingers or a flat pick. Powerful.
Model CM Concert Muse - A familiar smaller body guitar well balanced for fingerstyle playing. Players call them responsive and enjoy the dynamic range and nuance.
Parlor Guitar - Open, airy, bright sounding with good separation of tone. The Parlor is ideal for comfort, for travel, for recording, and for purity and sweetness of tone.
Model D Grand Festival - Available in the 14 fret model and a vintage-style sloped-shoulder 12 fret model.
Baritone F -Kathy's Baritone F was designed with clarity and articulation in mind. The F size is ideally suited for the deep growl, and delightfully alluring musical expression just pours out of this guitar.
Kathy Wingert has said, "Part of what inspired me to build guitars is the greatness of the instruments that already exist, the other part is what was missing for me -- I couldn't quite fall in love. I hope that in my instruments you will find something extraordiary."
