New Laurie Williams Tui Cutaway Guitar Premium grade, whitebait figured, Ancient Kauri back & sides. Waingarara kauri top (personally selected & harvested by Laurie Williams). Red cocobolo bindings. Top and waist bevel of cocobolo. The bindings are Amboyna burl with a stunning paua/amboyna burl rosette. This beautiful guitar also features thin paua purflings on the back and sides. These fine paua purflings outline the fretboard, bevels, & headstock. Fossilized mammoth Ivory nut & saddle. Kauri headstock faceplate with New Zealand paua logo. CocoBolo headstock backplate. Gotoh 510 antique gold tuning machines with Amboyna burl buttons. Evo gold frets. Sinker Totara wood neck (salvaged from old sinker logs from New Zealand rivers). Ebony fretboard with NZ paua Tui bird inlay. Ebony bridge with Ebony pins/abalone dots. The playability is first rate and the tone is very musical. There is something magical in a guitar constructed from the oldest workable wood in the world. The Ancient Kauri was recovered from peat swamps in the north of New Zealand's North Island. Samples of this wood have been dated from 3000 to over 45,000 years old.
