Vintage Gibson L-C Century Guitar (used, 1933)

Unveiled by Gibson at Chicago's 1933 World's Fair ~ The Century of Progress International Exposition which celebrated that city's 100th Anniversary

  • Curly Maple back and sides under a full body sunburst. This example has fantastic crazing throughout the lacquer finish that just adds to its mystique. At the time of this guitar's birth, Gibson had access to very fine Northern maple. Usually Red Maple or Sugar Maple which was Very hard, with attractive figure.
  • Adirondack Red spruce top
  • Pearloid fretboard with Brazilian Rosewood rectangles for fret markers. These were inlaid with mother-of-pearl in the shape of diamonds (notched).
  • Pearloid headstock faceplate and truss rod cover
  • The headstock was a double inlay affair: 1st rosewood was put into the pearloid. Then the "Gibson" logo and a notched diamond of mother-of-pearl were set into the rosewood.
  • 3 on a plate, open gear tuning machines
  • Honduran Mahogany neck (soft V)
  • Hot Hide Glue construction
  • Original firestripe pickguard
  • Ivoroid bindings
  • Rosewood bridge
  • Overall excellent condition for a guitar of this vintage.  It has plenty of scuffs and scratches and a beautiful patina of finish check all over the body and neck of the guitar. The tone is Old Timey, dry as a bone !!
